What the kids think

Day 7 (3/13/11) Breakfast
Harris, 7: "AWESOME! Well, I had two servings it tasted so good and I can't believe Mahlon didn't like - it tasted way to good for her not to like it!  The way it sounded I didn't think it was going to taste good at all, but I shouldn't have assumed the worst because it tasted great!"

Mahlon, 6: "I liked the yogurt (sliced bananas topped with vanilla yogurt), it was really awesome. I didn't like it and I didn't eat much.  I only liked the tortillas and the eggs."

Day 6 (3/12/11) All Day
Harris, 7: "I didn't like the french toast. My dad had to make me eat the yogurt, but once I had a bite I really really like the yogurt.

"The chicken bake was bland but daddy put some seasoning (Everglades Heat) on it and it was really good.  I really, really, really liked the cole slaw and I wish we could have it for dinner another night."

Day 5 (3/11/11) Lunch & Dinner
Harris, 7: "I like PB&J and potatoes...I loved potatoes I ate them for my snack.

"Dinner was awesome!"

Mahlon, 6: "I really liked the PB&J, it was really good and I didn't really eat the potatoes.

"Dinner was awesome blossom! Loved it!"

Mahlon, 6: "I didn't really like the french toast, but I um, I loved the yogurt.  The yogurt, Awesome!

Day 5 (3/11/11) Breakfast - Whole Wheat Pancakes!
Harris, 7: "I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVED it! The whole wheat made it taste really good pancakes."

Mahlon, 6: "Loved it! It was the best.  Pancakes - AWESOME!"

"I loved the chicken and the cole slaw.  I ate everything!"

Day 4 (3/10/11) Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Harris, 7: "I loved the apples but not really with the yogurt.  The cereal, um, I'd rather have it if it wasn't so dry and just a little sweeter.

I didn't like the pasta.  I liked the salad but I was pretty full from my field trip.  I got a honey bun and powdered doughnut!

I loved dinner! I looooved the potatoes and steak.  The cabbage I loved like the others."

Mahlon, 6: "I loved it! But I didn't like the cereal or the yogurt with apples. (Mother's note: that was all of breakfast!)

I didn't not like the pasta but I loved my salad. I like the salad better with the dressing.

Dinner was awesome, but I didn't like the stewed cabbage.  My favorite part of dinner was the potatoes."

Day 3 (3/9/11) - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Harris, 7: "I didn't like the oatmeal at all.  I did like the apples though.  I like the cottage cheese for flavor, not texture and I LOVED the cantaloupe.  My favorite part of breakfast was the cantaloupe, because I really did LOVE it.

I LOVED lunch - I loved everything.  The strawberries made it taste delicious.  The peanut butter and jelly sandwich was my favorite part.  The pretzels gave me something crunchy and they also made it taste delicious.

There was not one thing I didn't like about dinner, except the tortillas.  They were too dry.  I LOOOOOVVVED everything else."

Mahlon, 6: "I didn't like the apples or the oatmeal.  I didn't really like it.  But the rest of it was really good - and today I even ate the cottage cheese!

Lunch was really good and I was like a munching machine! The sandwich was my favorite part!

The tacos were AWESOME!!! The yogurt was good on the tacos. I really liked the black beans and I also really liked the taco meat."

Day 2 (3/8/11) - Lunch & Dinner
Dinner
Harris, 7: "I liked dinner a lot.  I LOVED the spaghetti and I LOVED the salad.  So far I've liked everything but the potato soup."
Mahlon, 6: "It was really good.  I really liked it.  I liked the salad when it is a little juicer.  I really liked the spaghetti - I wish we could have it another night!"

Lunch

Harris, 7: "I liked the salad, but I did not like the potato soup.  It was more like potato juice than potato soup."
Mahlon, 6: "It was good but I didn't like the potato soup that much but I loved the salad it was really good.  The soup had too much juice in it."

Day 2 (3/8/11) - Breakfast

The girls took soup for lunch so I'll have their update tonight.  But in reference to breakfast:

Harris, 7: "I thought breakfast was really good.  My favorite part was the oranges, because the corn flakes needed some splenda and after we got it it tasted really good.  I liked the cottage cheese because event though it had a weird flavor it tasted really good."

Mahlon, 6: "I thought breakfast was really good and I wish we could have it again. At first I didn't want to try the cottage cheese but once I tasted it, it was great."

Day 1 (3/7/11) - Dinner
Dinner was Chicken, Greek Green Beans and mashed potatoes

Harris, 7: “I absolutely loved everything.  There is nothing I didn’t like. We have a great adventure today.”

Mahlon, 6: “I loved everything – there is not any other mommy I could ever ask for. Awesome everything.”

Day 1 (3/7/11) - Breakfast and Lunch

Breakfast
Me: Tell me what you thought of breakfast this morning:
Harris, 7: “I thought it was really good.  I loved it. My favorite part was the eggs and potatoes. They made the delicious breakfast even more delicious.”
Mahlon, 6: “It was awesome. The potatoes and the apples were the best, but I didn’t like the eggs or oranges. My mom is doing great!”

Lunch:
Harris, 7: “I really liked the zucchini pancakes. I really liked the salad – except some pepper got caught in my throat. The sauce I didn’t like too much – it was ok though.”
Mahlon, 6: “I LOVED the zucchini pancakes.  This salad is delicious!” Me: “What did you think about the sauce?” Mahlon – “Loved it!”
---

Today (3/6/11) we talked to our two older girls about the challenge we are taking on with the menu.  Harris is in the 2nd grade and Mahlon is in Kindergarten.  They are pretty familiar with fruits and vegetables but to say they are suspect of the upcoming menu would be generous.

Mahlon upon hearing that Zucchini Cakes were on the menu for lunch tomorrow - said "Yuck! I don't like zucchini!"

Hopefully, we can change her mind.
